Blackjack players come in all shapes and sizes with different interests outside of the casino. The common bond with many blackjack players is often the actual game of blackjack. When players leave the casino and head home some may play or watch sports and others may play or watch video games.
Today we’re going to look at a demented variation of blackjack that only serious video game players might know about. Earlier this year Capcom released the latest edition of one of the most popular video games in history. Resident Evil 7: biohazard was released in January and has sold more 3 million games worldwide as of the writing of this post. The latest add-on for this action and adventure video game includes a little bit of blackjack.
Since the original release of the game, Capcom has released two volumes of Banned Footage. These new chapters represent videotapes discovered in the Baker mansion. Each chapter includes a fully playable add-on experiences to Resident Evil. Banned Footage: Vol 2 brings a twisted version of blackjack into the game called 21. The video of the blackjack-style gameplay below is NSFW and not for the squeamish.
The video shows a sample of how 21 is played. The game plays similar to blackjack with a Resident Evil twist. The player (you) has to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. However, there are cards that make the game a bit more complicated than the actual game.
Unlike real blackjack Lucas Baker introduces wild cards to the game. As you can see in the video above these are special cards that change certain conditions of the game. Thankfully real money blackjack doesn’t have this kind of wild card.
An actual round of 21 can take up to 30 minutes. Both the player and prisoner in the game are playing for their life or body parts. See, if the player loses in one of the first three rounds he’ll lose somewhere between one and three fingers. It gets worse from there. As you can see the prisoner loses the game and his face.
The game is difficult to win but not impossible. Eurogamer.net has some tips on beating 21. Unfortunately, card counting or basic blackjack strategy won’t help you from losing a finger or three in Resident Evil 7: biohazard. The good news is that it doesn’t matter if the game pays 3:2 or 6:5 for a natural blackjack.
The Banned Footage: Vol 2 add-on for Resident Evil costs an additional $14.99. This bonus game isn’t quite blackjack but it brings a little bit of casino fun into your house. Most blackjack players will play an online blackjack game that helps them play better in the casino. However, it’s fun to see a popular video game include the game most of us love inside of the casino – no matter how twisted the game may be.
