Facebook Blackjack

Online casinos aren’t the only places you can go to to play blackjack. You have other options. You can setup a home game, play blackjack via mobile app or online at one of those general gaming websites.

Another way to enjoy blackjack is via Facebook. Facebook might be an option for you if you don’t care about real money games, are interested in off-the-wall variations or being social and chatting up other blackjack enthusiasts about games, strategy and casinos. You can’t do this stuff at an online casino.

So the point of this page is to explain Facebook blackjack in more detail, including how it’s different, what the top blackjack apps are and the other ways you can use Facebook to enjoy the game of 21.

I think it’s important to understand that blackjack will be different on Facebook compared to your favorite online casino. Here are a couple of examples to show you what I mean.

• You can’t play for real money at Facebook. The only games Facebook run right now are play money games. You’ll play for tokens or fake money.
• You’re on Facebook. By this I mean that you’ll have different terms to agree to and you’ll be accessible to friends and family.
• You’ll be able to play standard and not-so-standard blackjack games. You can play a traditional game of blackjack, or you can choose to play games with elements of 21 in them. For example, one variation is a combination of blackjack and poker. That’s not something you’re going to find in a casino. On the other hand, you won’t find variations like Vegas Strip, double exposure or Super Fun 21 at Facebook.
• You’re friends and family may know that you’re playing blackjack. The way these games work on Facebook is that they will occasionally post on your behalf when you win hands, hit milestones and so on. Your friends may be able to see this in their news feed. This may or may not matter to you depending on your friends/family’s stance on gambling.

These differences aren’t life changing. And you can always switch between Facebook and casino blackjack whenever you want. I merely point these things out so you can decide if Facebook blackjack is something you’re interested in. Minus the social aspect and the odd blackjack variation, you’re not going to find something on Facebook that you won’t be able to at your online casino.

For those of you that want to play blackjack on Facebook I thought I’d post the top 5 blackjack apps. I haven’t played them all, so I just grabbed the ones that had the most active users. I figured that was a good indication as to which games are the most fun. I explain how to install them below for those of you that don’t know how.

4. Blackjack Buzz (10,000 users) – Duel opponents for the top score against time.

One word of caution — if you choose to play other games than what I have listed here, be aware that some apps will go to external websites that can install malware and viruses to your computer. Be sure to have an anti-virus program setup on your computer before leaving Facebook.

Installing an app on Facebook is simple. But I wanted to walk you through it because there are privacy settings that you can adjust so that your friends and family don’t know what games you play.

What you’ll do is click on one of those links which will take you to the app’s install page. Before you click ‘play game’ or ‘install game,’ you’ll want to look to the left side of the page. There you’ll see a drop down menu that gives you the option on who sees the posts created by the game. You have the option between public, friends of friends, friends, only you and custom. Those are in order from 100% transparent to 100% private. Just choose the one that you want. Then click ‘play game.’

From there the app will be connected to your Facebook account. You’ll be able to see the app(s) on your timeline or news feed in the left sidebar, below the ‘app’ heading. Just click on the game you want to play whenever you’re ready and it’ll load within Facebook.

If you ever want to delete the app you’ll want to go to the main app page (for you), click the settings link for the game you want to delete and towards the bottom you’ll see a link that says remove app. Click that and the game will be removed.

In the beginning I mentioned that you don’t have to play blackjack on Facebook. There are other ways to enjoy blackjack or do blackjack related tasks. Here are a couple of examples to show you what I mean.

• Talk to real money casinos. Do you have a problem, complaint or compliment for an online casino? Then visit their fan page and let them know. It’s a real fast way to (publicly) communicate with the casino.
• Like a page and get a bonus. Some casinos run promotions that will reward players for liking their page. Others will only run special offers for fans. Either way, liking your casino’s page will keep you up-to-date on new games, offers and general casino news. Things unconnected people miss out on.
• Talk blackjack with other players. You can join a blackjack fan page, website business page, book page, etc, and surround yourself with other blackjack enthusiasts. This can be a great way to talk strategy, where to play, what casinos to avoid and travel tips for playing live blackjack.

Overall, Facebook is a great for adding a social element to an otherwise unsocial (online) game. So if that’s an aspect of blackjack that you’re missing, Facebook can be a great way to fill that void.
