Blackjack side bets are a fun way to increase variance in the hopes of a big score. Blackjack side bets also have a higher house advantage than the standard blackjack bet.
Some side bets, also known as bonus bets, are related to the first two cards dealt, while others pertain to the outcome of a hand. Below is a list of many popular blackjack side bets.
21+3 – This blackjack side bet is extremely common at Caesars Entertainment properties. The first two player’s cards and the dealer’s up card are combined to make a three-card poker hand. The player wins 9-1 if those three cards make a straight, flush, three of a kind, or a straight flush.
3-1 Blackjack – If the player’s first two cards are the same color and the player wins the hand, the side bet pays 3-1.
7-1 Blackjack – If the player’s first two cards and the dealer’s door card are the same color, the player is paid 7-1 if he also wins the hand.
Royal Match – Pays 10-1 if a player is dealt a suited king and queen. Any suited starting hand pays 3-1.
Over/Under – A player may choose between whether the first two cards dealt will be less than or more than 13. Both bets lose if the total amount of the first two cards is 13.
Pair Square – The Pair Square bet wins if a player’s starting cards pair. There are different pay tables, depending on the number of decks in use at the table.
Lucky Ladies – This popular side bet pays when a player makes a 20 starting hand. An ace and a 9 also count. An unsuited 20 pays 4-1, suited 20 9-1, two exact cards pay 19-1, and a pair of queens of hearts pay 125-1. The jackpot is where the player has a pair of queens of hearts and the dealer has a blackjack. That pays 1,000-1.
House Money – This interesting side bet allows a player to take the side bet and add it to the original wager. Ace/King suited pays 9-1, straight flushes 4-1, pair 3-1 and straight pays even money.
Hi/Low – Players that like to play Acey/Deucy will like the Hi/Low bet. A player can bet whether his first card is higher or lower than the dealer’s door card. All ties lose, except for aces, which push.
Dealer Bust – A player may bet on the dealer busting. This wager pays 2-1 when the dealer busts with any card or any combination of cards.
